Arrogance: They praised him and referred to him as a savior and the messiah;” he joked about being the messiah (Press Club 2008); he rejected scripture to supports gay rights; he refers to preachers who speak against homosexuality, as “gay bashing;” he supports abortion (a woman’ right to20choose); he wants to overturn the Defensive Marriage Act (which states that marriage should be between a man and woman); he wants to remove the discrimination clause in the Faith Based Initiative Program (which protects the church’s hiring practices); and in his rise to power he consistently told cheering crowds of thousands that his time has come and he will bring about change. Who is this man of arrogance? He is President Elect - Barack Obama.
Ignorance: Even though he has not served one day as President, nor has he suffered like the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., many are comparing him with Dr. King, while others are petitioning and volunteering to name schools after him, their babies after him, and streets after him. Some are proposing a national holiday in his honor; others are selling collector’s edition coins, plates, books, t-shirts, hats, tennis shoes, cups20and magazines with his image on them. He is so popular, that during this holiday season, products with his image may out sell those that feature the image of the Christ Child.
Ignorance: While the atheist and the secular community are seeking to remove all religious symbols through the myth of the separation of church and state and replace Merry Christmas with Happy Holidays, a multitude of ministers seem to have more confidence in the secular savior, Barack Obama than they have in the spiritual savior, Jesus Christ. And while they praise Obama from their pulpits, their members seem to be more incline to commend and defend the name of Obama (in their workplace and at public gatherings), than they are to commend and defend the name of Jesus in those same settings. Have they forgott en that the Bible says: “Except that God keeps the city [America], they that watch [our powerful political leaders] watch in vain?”
I want to go on record to say the Lord is not pleased with this and I fear His retributive response. I shivered when I heard crowds chant “Obama, Obama, Obama.” It reminded me of the people who chanted the name of Barabbas, while demanding that the government crucify Christ. This is not to suggest that John McCain was the Christ, but only to convey that like the Jewish leaders of Jesus’ day, our modern-day religious leaders knowingly and deliberately chose a political figure that consciously rejected scripture to embrace immorality.
Arrogance: From the beginning, the Lord made it clear in His Word that: “Thou shall have no other God before me…” (Ex. 20:3) and that: “He is a jealous God” (Ex 20:5). Throughout biblical history God has not only destroyed and brought down kings and entire nations for their worship of men and idols, he has consistently warned his godly leaders that He will not tolerate such behavior. Today Obama is more popular than Jesus.
Ignorance: In Jeremi ah 17:5-6, it says: “Thus saith the Lord; cursed be man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord. For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh, but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness….” Jeremiah goes on to say (23:20): “The anger of the Lord shall not return, until He hath executed and till he has performed the thoughts of his heart….”
Arrogance: Will Obama’s arrogance hurt him? Yes, according to Daniel 4:29. When Nebuchadnezzar, like Obama, thought that he was the man, the Lord reduced the king to the=2 0status of a wild animal. Listen to Nebuchadnezzar’s own words: “Is this not the great Babylon that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honor of my majesty? The Lord will not allow anyone to steal His glory. I am not wishing that something terrible happens to President -elect Obama, nor am I ignoring my responsibility to pray for his success, I do however know that if he continues to do as he has in the past (demonstrate and display an attitude of arrogance), the Lord may afflict him and bring him down as He did with Nebuchadnezzar and other leaders.
Is Obama arrogant and self-centered? On more than one occasion in his book: Dreams From My Father, Obama’s friends were very critical of him a nd told him: “You always think everything is about you… (pp.108-109). On page 439 of the book, Obama says his wife (Michelle) “Doesn’t always know what to think of me, she worries that…I am something of a dreamer…”
Ignorance: Finally, if the scripture is correct, Obama supporters must braced themselves and be ready to accept the fact that he will face harsh criticism. They must remember that during both the primaries and the general election Senator Obama was very critical of all of his opponents, including President Bush and his policies. Seldom did he ever recognize any of the positive things that they accomplished while serving in Congress. According to scripture the same will happen to him. For the scripture tells us in Galatians 6:7, “Be not deceived, God is not mocked: whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap”. Every President receives harsh criticism and Obama will experience the same, not because he is black, but because he (like most who campaign for the position) elevated themselves above their predecessors and opponents by embellishing and focusing on the things they did wrong, rather than accentuating the things they did right.
When these fateful days comes to pass - you will know that you have been fore-warned and you will also know that all of this came about because of Obama’s Arrogance and the voter’s Ignorance of God’s word.
